Got Questions? We've Got Answers!

Below you'll find answers to the most common questions we receive about our programs, pricing, scheduling, and more. If you don't find what you're looking for, feel free to contact us directly.

Do I need prior martial arts experience to join?

Not at all! We welcome students of all experience levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. Our instructors will work with you at your own pace and skill level. Many of our most successful students started with zero martial arts experience.

What should I wear to my first class?

For your first class, wear comfortable athletic clothing like a t-shirt and shorts or athletic pants. We train barefoot, so no shoes are needed on the mat. After your trial, we can help you with purchasing a gi (uniform) if you decide to join our program.

What is included in my free trial class?

Your free trial includes a full class experience where you'll learn basic techniques, get a feel for our training environment, and meet our instructors and students. You'll also receive information about our programs, schedule, and membership options. There's no pressure or obligation to join—we just want you to experience what makes BTT Jupiter special!

Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu safe for beginners?

Yes! Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is one of the safest martial arts when practiced properly. We emphasize controlled techniques, proper warm-ups, and safe training practices. Our instructors closely supervise all students, especially beginners, to ensure everyone trains safely and at an appropriate intensity level.

What age groups do you teach?

We offer programs for all ages:

  • Lil Champs (Ages 4-6): Fun introduction to martial arts with focus on coordination and discipline
  • Juniors (Ages 6-10): Building fundamentals and self-defense skills
  • Juniors 2 (Ages 10-15): Advanced training for pre-teens and teens
  • Adults (Ages 15+): Comprehensive BJJ for all skill levels

Each program is specifically designed for the developmental stage and goals of that age group.

How often should I train?

For beginners, we recommend starting with 2-3 classes per week to allow your body to adapt while building a consistent habit. As you progress and your fitness improves, many students train 4-5 times per week. Our flexible schedule makes it easy to train at times that work for you. The most important thing is consistency—regular training, even just twice a week, will lead to excellent progress over time.

Can I train if I'm not in shape?

Absolutely! Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is an excellent way to GET in shape. Our classes are designed to accommodate all fitness levels. You'll work at your own pace, and our instructors will help you gradually build strength, endurance, and flexibility. Many of our students started their fitness journey with us and have achieved amazing transformations.

Do you offer competition training?

Yes! We have students who compete at all levels, from local tournaments to international championships. While competition is completely optional, we provide specialized training and coaching for students interested in competing. Coach Gabriel has extensive competition experience and regularly prepares students for tournaments.

How much does membership cost?

We offer several membership options to fit different schedules and budgets. Pricing varies based on the program and training frequency you choose. We're happy to discuss the details during your free trial class or when you contact us. We also offer family discounts when multiple family members train together!

Do you offer family discounts?

Yes! We believe in training families together and offer special family membership rates when multiple family members join. Many of our families train together, creating a unique bonding experience while everyone improves their skills. Contact us to learn more about our family membership options.

Is there a long-term contract required?

We offer both month-to-month and long-term membership options to provide flexibility for our students. The specific terms and pricing will be discussed during your consultation. We want you to train with us because you love it, not because you're locked into a contract!

What equipment do I need to purchase?

To get started, you'll need a gi (uniform), which typically costs between $80-150. We can recommend quality options that fit your budget. Other optional items include rashguards, training shorts for no-gi classes, and a mouthguard. We can guide you through all equipment needs and help you make informed purchasing decisions.
